Why do we have baby teeth? The most obvious reason for having them before the permanent ones come and take their place is to match with the expansion of the skeleton. The growth during childhood is very fast, so any teeth formed at the childhood will be too small to do its function effectively throughout the whole life. On the other hand, the 6 month old baby cannot have the space for the teeth of a fully grown adult.
